(200 square feet) is the apartment I lived in with my family until October 2011. It is located on the fourth floor of the same building where Leone 2 and Leone 3 are also located and it has four bedrooms and four bathrooms. It can accommodate up to 9 people. Leone 4 is a stylish and elegant apartment located on the fourth floor in the same building as Leone 2 and Leone 3, which are on the second floor. It is a light and spacious apartment with large windows overlooking Via Bocca di Leone off Via Borgognona, just in front of the Hotel d’Inghilterra. The apartment is furnished with antique furniture and paintings from my family home in Puglia and from my husband’s home on Sardinia. The floors are covered by terracotta tiles and antique carpets.

  1. We have just returned to London feeling very relaxed from a perfect family holiday in this delightful and extremely comfortable apartment in the centre of Rome. The apartment is spacious, extremely stylish and decorated in the classic Roman style. It is fully equipped with everything a family might need to ensure a happy and stress free holiday. Marcella’s attention to detail is flawless and she went to enormous trouble to ensure we had everything we needed and even arranged a wonderful dinner party for us and our friends on our first night. The apartment’s location could not be better with its proximity to the very best shops, bars and restaurants and many of the city’s historic attractions are within easy walking distance. I heartily recommend this apartment and would not now consider staying anywhere else in Rome. Many thanks Marcella for a simply wonderful holiday.

    1. Dear Amanda-Jane,
Thank you for the kind words. I am delighted to see that you had a wonderful time here. Looking forward to your next Roman holiday.
      All the best,
      Marcella

  2. Leone 4 is a luxurious, welcoming Roman home away from home. From its overstuffed furniture to the treasured antiques the residence is 5 Star quality without the attitude. In addition to the ambiance our family of six appreciated the spaciousness, the comfortable beds, the fully stocked kitchen, washer and dryer and air conditioning. A ten-minute walk to almost anywhere you would want to go in Rome. Marcella is the perfect host, personally making sure your stay in her home is as memorable as your holiday in Italy.

    1. Dear Susan, thank you so much for your kind words. It was lovely meeting you and your family. Marcella

  3. My husband and I have stayed in Leone 2 five times over the past 9-10 years, including a month in October 2015. We absolutely loved the apartment and would never consider any other place to stay when in Rome. When Leone 2 was not available for our recent trip to Rome, we decided on Leone 1. Well, just like Leone 2, Leone 1 was wonderful! Marcella met us on arrival and took us on a short tour of the apartment. As we expected, the place was beautifully appointed, with marvelous views over the city streets (which included wonderful entertainment – a violinist – most afternoons!) We loved having access to a complete kitchen as well as a washer and dryer. The bathrooms are spacious and very comfortable with showers and a tub. The location is ideal – close to the Spanish steps and Borghese gardens, and all other Rome attractions are within walking distance. There are also great restaurants in the neighborhood. If you enjoy classical music, there is a small opera house very nearby and a church that has classical music events most evenings. I highly recommend Leone 1 (or 2) for repeat visitors to Rome and first-timers!

  4. If you want to stay in Rome, and feel as if you are immersed in the culture of the city, this is the place to stay! The apartment is elegant and has everything you could want. We were five women who have all traveled extensively and each one of us was taken by the care Marcella obviously put into this apartment. Her booklet gave us great ideas for eating and all were in walking distance. The neighborhood is perfect. You are right by the Spanish Steps and are surrounded by gorgeous shops and neat little trattorias. Edgar, her helper came in every few days to empty garbage and sweep; little touches that made a huge difference for us. He also shopped for food prior to our arrival so we didn’t have to run out for breakfast. I want to return to Rome just to stay in this apartment ( or any of her others) and enjoy the culture of the city.

  5. I can not say enough wonderful things about our stay in Rome chez Marcella’s apartment . Home away from home . Very comfortable , nice and quiet ,wonderful services . Amazingly located , just steps away from where you would want to be, the Spanish Steps , the best shopping streets , Via Condotti ,great restaurants trust me ! WONDERFUL ! Looking forward to returning soon

  6. My family of 5 stayed in late October and had the most beautiful stay. I cannot recommend this apartment highly enough (although I don’t want it to be booked for our next stay!). It is comfortable, quiet, but walking area surrounding has darling shops and cafes. It’s just far enough from the spanish steps to not feel too crazy. Loved every minute.

  7. My family of five stayed here in August for 4 nights and had a wonderful time. I can only reiterate all the positive comments in the other reviews. For our first time in Rome, the location could not be better. Close to all the major sites. Many restaurants within walking distance. A grocery store at the end of the road made it easy to get some supplies for breakfast and lunch. The apartment really is a home. Very comfortable and spacious. The kitchen was nice. I was able to make a simple breakfast. Marcella was wonderful from the booking experience to our arrival. She gave us great suggestions for places to eat and where to go. Edgard is the housekeeper and was a huge help when we arrived getting all of our luggage up the to the 4th floor. We didn’t see him very much after that although somehow our beds were made every day! He also helped get our luggage back down at the end of our stay. We did use her recommended driver and he was perfect. One thing I haven’t seen mentioned is the value of staying at this property. Had I booked a hotel in this area with similar amenities (doubt I would ever find one with a kitchen) and of similar size, I can’t imagine what the cost would have been! I highly recommend Leone 1 and very much hope that my family can visit again!

  8. After having stayed the prior year in Leone 3 and having such a wonderful experience we decided to come back to rome and rent the Leone 1 apartment. I must say once again it was an outstanding time. Marcello goes out of her way to meet with you and provides a wonderful atmosphere within the home. She is a wonderful person and very professional ensuring your stay to be top notch. The Leone 1 is very nicely appointed and very well managed and clean. The location is perfect for reaching all that Roma has to offer sitting right in the heart of the fashion district just blocks from the Spanish steps and more. Do not hesitate for a second to book, you will not be disappointed and your expectations will definitely be met. We look forward to our next return!

  9. My family had such a wonderful stay in this beautiful apartment. It’s so well situated and comfortable. We were three generations my husband and I along with our adult daughter and my 87 year old mother in law. We couldn’t have wished for anything more. It was well serviced and Marcella was delightful.

  10. I went there, hoping I’d have a terrific month: April 1-May 1, 2018; it was bette than that: wonderful. The owner made me feel like I was at home; the apartment is classy, elegant, and comfortable, with very nice furniture; it is spotless, so clean. Additionally, for me, I wanted a central location, but also quiet; it had both. There was sun-light, and all that one could dream for, to explore Rome, or just sit back and read and relax. Excellent. I’m coming back in November!

  11. We had an amazing stay in Leone I in Rome in March, 2018. We had 4 adults and 2 children (ages 7 and 10), and the apartment could not have been better. It’s in a wonderful location–walking distance to great restaurants, a shopping market and plenty of shopping. We stayed for 8 nights, so having a washing machine, dryer and air conditioning was extraordinarily helpful. Marcella was an incredible host, and it was a luxury having a housekeeper in the building. I would also highly recommend Anne Hogan (the tour guide) and Gino (the driver), who were recommended by Marcella and were wonderful. We can’t wait to come back!

  12. Our stay in Rome could not have been better. Our family of 6 stayed in Leone 1 for a week. The building where Leone 1 is located can easily be approached by car. This apartment is nicely decorated and furnished with an elegant Italian feel. The rooms are cozy and offer plenty of space as well as closets. Bathrooms are also well supplied with nice towels and dispensed soaps. Edgar, the house keeper, was invisible! We never saw him but the apartment was always clean and refreshed when we arrived back from our visits around Rome. Gino provided prompt and professional transportation (great vehicles). Anna and Simone, provided the perfect catering for our New Year’s meal. Could not ask for more! Lastly, the location is fantastic. The best street to stay in Rome by far. Just across the way is the Hotel D’Inghilterra which offers great options of a place to grab a bite or drink. We will definitely return again for another visit. Our thanks to Marcella and her staff. Regards, Maria Guzman and family

  13. My husband and I throughly enjoyed our 8 night stay in Leone 1 and will absolutely reserve again if we have the good fortune of returning to Rome! The location is ideal for “urban hiking” to all of the major sites — the neighborhood is safe with easy access to extraordinary restaurants and shops, all generously recommended by Marcella! Not only is the apartment comfortable and beautiful — the services provided by Edgar, Gino and Anna are exemplary! We felt lovingly cared for in every way. If you are seeking beautiful accommodations, a perfect location and additional services to insure the most wonderful stay, look no further than Rome Luxury Apartments and the attentiveness of Marcella and her support team! Warmest regards, Caroline & Blake Dederich

  14. What a treat to stay in Marcella’s apartment! It was like living in a curator’s apartment, with beautiful art all over and such a tasteful arrangement of colours and furnitures everywhere. Everything was very comfortable with our 3 children aged 4, 8 and 11 , the views over the rooftops of Rome, and the lively music coming from the street added to the charm of our stay. We walked everywhere, to the Spanish steps in less than 5′, to the Fontana di Trevi in 10′, and the list of recommendations, restaurants, guides were top quality. Grazie mille Vanessa

  15. This apartment exceeded expectations and is far more beautiful than pictures portray. An easy walk to the Spanish steps and within walking distance to all of Rome’s major attractions. Marcella was the perfect hostess and set us up with her driver Gino, who we used many time throughout our stay, and her friend Anne, who took us on an amazing personal tour of the city. The apartment, Marcella, Gino and Anne all enhanced our Roman holiday. We can’t wait to return! (February 2017)

  16. We spent a week in Leone 1. It was wonderful, very comfortable and spacious and refectory located. It was furnished very well with what was obviously personal items and this made it a precious place to stay. Marcella was wonderful in giving us a full booklet of helpful instructions for the apartment together with restaurant, tours and walking routes. It is pricier than some other apartments but comparable to a very good hotel and with so much extra space and facilities. My only comment to other renters would. E to please treat it well as it’s such a lovely place.

  17. I stayed at Leoni 1 with my very good friend Robyn for a week in August. The location is fantastic and the apartment is superb, extremely well appointed and spacious. I would most certainly recommend staying here, all communication, booking, arrival/transfer processes were well managed and orientated to the needs of the guest. I would highly recommend these properties.

  18. Dear Marcella, We had a wonderful few day in Rome. We loved your Apartment and was perfect for my wife and I and three adult daughters. We had plenty of room and we found the Apartment to be excellently equipped. The location could not be bettered in it’s proximity to the the local Restaurants as well as the fantastic Deli, Coffee Shop and Pub nearby. We can,’t wait to go back. Many thanks for making the booking so easy and all the useful information you supplied

  19. My husband and I intend to travel to Rome 24th or 25th of April for a four night stay. Do your apartments cater for two people or are they for larger numbers? We have never been to Rome before and would like somewhere central and convenient to all sites of interest. Thank you, Fiona McKeon

  20. This is our second visit to one of Marcella’s lovely and authentic Roman apartments. The location is superb yet quiet. The neighborhood full of great restaurants and a small grocery store several blocks away. We have rented apartments in other cities in Italy but this has been our best experience to date! I would highly recommend these apartments to anyone coming to the Eternal City! Best, Jill Alfano

  21. We spent one week in Leone 1 at the beginning of August, 2015. It is a stunning, very spacious apartment on a quiet block near the Spanish Steps. There were just two of us; we loved every minute from the tiny lift up to the fourth floor to the lovely views down to the street. Marcella’s apartments are in a fabulous location for walkers–we covered most of Rome easily on foot from Piazza Popolo to Trastevere, from Vatican City to Circus Maximus and everything in between. Grazie Marcella for a most memorable experience in Roma.

  22. 15 of us stayed in Leone 1, 2, and 3 for a week this August. What beautiful, gracious and well-appointed apartments! Wonderful location between the Spanish Steps and Via del Corso close to restaurants, shoppings, and grocery and wine stores and a nice walk to all of the major sites. The apartments are each truly elegant and beautiful while also very livable and comfortable. With two apartments together on one floor and the third on another floor, we were able to come together for full group dinners, etc. and it was also very easy to have privacy. Marcella is also a wonderful and gracious host beyond being the owner of the apartments. We coordinated several extraordinary dinners cooked by a chef in the apartments, and Marcella came each time to ensure the tables were well arranged. We can’t recommend the Leone apartments enough!

  23. “Dear Marcella, A very belated – but sincere thank you for allowing us to stay in your beautiful apartment. We had a wonderful time in Rome, and your apartment allowed us to truly appreciate this beautiful city. The location, the amenities and of course your kindness, was very much appreciated. We also enjoyed the wonderful tours by Anne and her husband, as well as the efficiency of the drivers. I look forward to returning to Rome soon, and of course your beautiful apartment. With my sincere thanks. Lynn (Leone 1 – December 2014)”

  24. “Our 10 night stay in Leone I was ‘the best’. There were four of us that enjoyed the apartment, the location and the friendly service that Marcella& Edgar provided to us. This was our second stay in Marcella’s apartment’s in Rome and ‘both’ stays exceeded our expectations! Randy & Joan Pacelli Mill Valley, CA. (Leone 1 -October 2014)”

  25. “We stayed in Bocca di Leone 1 for 10 days and were very pleased with the accommodations. The apartment was in a very good and safe neighborhood and located in proximity to the places we wanted to see. It was nicely appointed and large enough for the four adults in our party and could accommodate more. The appliances were in good working order as was the AC. The beds were very comfortable and the linens were first rate. The housekeeper, Edgar, did a good job and was very accessible. My wife particularly enjoyed the lovely views of the Roman rooftops from the living room. Marcella was very helpful with recommendations for restaurants, walks and transportation to and from the airport. All in all we had a wonderful stay there. (Leone 1 – October 2014) “

  26. “Myself and my two grown up sons stayed in Leone 1 for a few days in September – it was perfect! Exactly as you see from the pictures, and the location couldn’t possibly be better. Would certainly recommend. Thank you very much indeed Marcella! (Leone 1 – September 2014)”

  27. “Wonderful apartment, very comfortable and a great location. Would stay there again for sure. Much better for a family than staying in a hotel. I’ll miss walking down the street to the outdoor produce vendor for fresh peaches and figs and fresh ricotta at the cheese and salami shop to bring back to the apartment for breakfast every morning. Try getting that in a hotel! (Leone 1 – July 2014) “

  28. “Marcella’s apartment is the BEST location in Rome! The apartment has beautiful artwork and Marcella is lovely. This is our second time renting from Marcella and would stay there again if we come back to Rome. (Leone 1 – June 2014) “

  29. “Dear Marcella, Our stay at your lovely apartment was wonderful. We loved how tastefully decorated the apartment was and the location was extraordinary. It was a great pleasure to meet you. We will return when we revisit Rome. My best, Anthony. (Leone 1 – May 2014)”

  30. “Hello Marcella , Me and my family have enjoyed my stay a lot in Rome mostly due to your lovely apartment. Thank you for being a lovely and friendly host and I sure will stay at your apartment if I ever come back to Rome. I hope to see you in Saudi Arabia soon, make sure you come in the winter because the summer is unbearable here lool . Best regards, Faisal A.G. (Leone 1- October 2013)”

  31. “Hi Marcella! I’m just emailing to thank you and to tell you how much my family and I enjoyed meeting you. You are a very welcoming person and a delight to be around; our tour at the colosseum, and meeting your grandchildren was one of my favorite parts of this trip! They are absolutely adorable and VERY smart, you are one lucky lady 🙂 Your home is beautiful and I know I speak for them all when I say that we are very gracious! I’m so sorry that it has taken me so long to get these pictures to you… Thanks again, Marcella! Best,Kathryn K. (Leone 1 – October 2013)”

  32. “Thank you so much for the rental of your apartment in Rome, we were sorry not to catch up with you, however Anna looked after us beautifully. The apartment was perfect and such great location. We shall spread the word to our friends in Australia who travel. Thank you once again (Leone 1 – September 2013) “

  33. “We had a wonderful holiday in Rome celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. Marcella’s apartment home (Leoni 1) was perfect for our needs! It is very central in location and is quiet, warm, and very comfortable. Hearing stories of small, tight accommodations in Europe, you certainly do not need to worry about space and comfort in Marcella’s apartment home! The beautiful antiques throughout the apartment and the welcoming basket of goodies and wine were wonderful “extras”! We look forward to returning to Rome and would not hesitate to again contact Marcella! (Leone 1 – May 2013)”

  34. “Thank you Marcella, We have had a wonderful time in Rome and certainly enjoyed staying in your great apartment. We will be recommending it to our friends in Australia to consider when they come to Rome. (Leone 1 – July 2013)”

  35. “Really cant say enough! Marcella was very welcoming and attentive. Rented 3 of her apartments in the building for an extended family vacation. We had a total of 16 people- 4 different families with kids from 17 to 7. More than spacious. Well appointed. Left windows open for the quiet street chatter and the gentleman playing the violin on the corner. Great little cafe just a block or so away for pastries and paninis. Always felt safe. Would love to stay at Leoni again and say hi to Marcella. (: (Leone 1 – March 2013) “
