(1900 square feet) on the second floor, can be connected with Leone 2 and has three bedrooms (two of them with walk-in wardrobe and en-suite bathroom) and three bathrooms. It can accommodate up to 8 people. Situated on the second floor in the same building where Leone 1 and Leone 2 are located, Leone 3 is a spacious and elegant apartment. It is possible to connect both Leone 2 and Leone 3 to be rented together. The floors are tiled throughout with lots of large mirrors which reflect images and light creating a nice sense of space. In the entrance hall you’ll find a 19th century large mahogany Imperial style sideboard coming from my ancestral home in Puglia. From the large hall, you can access the living room to the right and to the left the hallway which leads to the laundry room, the kitchen, a small bathroom, a small bedroom and the second large bedroom with en-suite walk-in wardrobe and bathroom. The hallway has French windows that open on to a small balcony that looks over the inner courtyard. This allows one to bring in fresh air and the warmth of Roman weather. Four large windows light the living room, overlooking Via Borgognona towards the Spanish Steps, the Hotel d’Inghilterra, via Bocca di Leone and Palazzo Torlonia. The palace is softly lit up at night emphasizing the beautiful warm colour of its walls in contrast with the marble surroundings of the windows thus creating a relaxing atmosphere. The working gas-fired stonework fireplace comes from my ancestral home in Puglia. Gathered round it are two large white sofas and two armchairs. The hand-made ceiling beams have been uncovered to show how the room was originally created. There is also a shimmering chandelier hung with Bohemian glass. Here you’ll find some fine antique pieces, such as a sideboard, a desk and a long dining table that will seat eight. The huge Persian carpet, the gold-leaf frames of the mirrors and the paintings create an elegant environment. There is a television with satellite reception. 1st bedroom: next to the living room is the master bedroom with a queen-size bed and a very comfortable single sofa bed. There are two comfortable armchairs, a 19th century Neapolitan desk, a large Persian rug which gives a feeling similar to that of the living room and Neapolitan watercolours on the wall. The en-suite walk-in wardrobe area is great for storing your suitcases and has shelves and rails to hang your clothes. The walk-in wardrobe leads to a bathroom with a tub equipped with a fixed shower head as well as a hand-held one. Entering the hallway you’ll find on your left a cubbyhole containing washing machine and hot water tank, on your right the kitchen that has a built-in four burners gas cooker, oven, dishwasher, small fridge/freezer, toaster, Nespresso coffee machine, plates, cutlery and pots and pans. There is also a wall light for reading at night. Directly across the hall is a bathroom with a small shower that can be used by the small bedroom’s guests. 2nd bedroom: is a large bedroom, there are two single beds that can be joined together as a king-size bed. A large French window opens onto a balcony that looks on a large inner courtyard. The dressing and walk-in wardrobe area is well thought out for you with space to store your luggage and shelves and rails for hanging clothes and a cupboard with shelves. 1. We just wanted to express how much we adored staying in Leone 2 during our time in Rome this past June 2022. It was perfect!! The art work and being surrounded by books made one feel at home. It was our oasis, our place to regroup, and our place to feel for a few days being a true Roman.

We especially want to thank Ms. Marcella for her kindness, her interest in knowing a little about our family, and her willingness to help with suggestions for restaurants, car service, local groceries, and much more.

We look forward to staying at your place the next time we are in Rome as well as letting all of our friends and family aware of this special jewel.

    1. Dear both,
Thank you for your lovely review. It makes me so happy to hear that I contributed to make your holiday a success.
Looking forward to seeing you again for your next Roman holiday.
      All the best,
      Marcella

  2. This October 2019 will be the third time we have stayed in one of Marcella’s apartments. Marcella has demonstrated incredible professionalism related to a screw up on my part, related to my last stay at her place. It was remarkable what she did for me. Regarding the apartments, they are just wonderful. I was there with some of my family and we filled up the three bedroom unit. Having that living and dinning room was just wonderful to gather at the end of the days to discuss our day’s adventures. My bed, as usual, was extremely comfortable. The location puts you right in an ideal location. Also we always use Anne Hogan and Simone Funaro when we visit. Anne is a certified guide and is just excellent with her friendly manor, and her incredible knowledge base related to the sites around Rome. She knows just when your brain can’t take anymore information. She has great intuition that way and is just a very kind and wonderful person. Simone is an excellent and entertaining Chef. He took us on incredible market tours and has prepared unbelievable Roman meals in our apartment over the years. The two of them are great. The apartment is great. Marcella has been wonderful. Cannot say enough good things about our experience.

  3. We had been highly recommended Marcella and Leone 3 by some friends and we were not disappointed. For a week we were able to pretend that we lived in Rome in our beautiful apartment in the most wonderful location. The spacious rooms and living area were terrific to relax in after a day of sightseeing and exploring. We loved wandering locally to buy bread, cheeses, prosciutto etc for breakfast and having it on the wonderful dining table and even cooked dinner one night with the local produce. It is a well presented, clean and stylish home away from home. Sitting in the living room with the windows open listening to the violinist below was such a treat. This is the only place to stay in Rome!

  4. Our stay at Leone 3 was spectacular! The apartment is beautifully furnished. Very clean. Lovely living room for our family to gather in. We are a family of five and had plenty of room. The location is perfect! So centrally located near the Spanish Steps. Love the old world charm of opening the windows and looking out over the cobblestoned street. Marcella would so communicative and thoughtful all throughout the booking process and check in. Very helpful with providing a driver to pick us up from the airport, too. She had a notebook in the apartment with so many excellent suggestions. It was a wonderful family vacation! We can’t wait to go back!!

  5. We had a wonderful stay in Rome in Leone 3 for 5 days in July. The apartment had everything we were after and was in a fantastic location. We walked everywhere for the 5 days we were there. Marcella’s information regarding restaurants was great and we ate out at her recommended places every day, and were never disappointed. We had 2 families with 7 of us all together (including 3 children) and would highly recommend the apartment. If we ever get back to Rome, we will definitely be looking to stay there again.

  6. Stayed with extended family over Christmas. Gad Leone 2 and Leone 3 ( they connect, if you want). Perfect in all senses!. Outstanding location. Wonderful experience!!!

  7. Thank you, Marcella, for the beautiful stay in a Rome. The apartment is luxurious and comfortable. We met another couple and stayed for 9 days. The apartment was perfect for the 4 of us we felt like we were at home.

  8. We stayed in Marcella’s beautiful Leone 3 apartment for 5 nights in May and it was just perfect, with plenty to space for us to relax along with our 3 children. The apartment is beautiful. It is full of traditional character, whilst being contemporary at the same time, and provided all modern facilities and amenities including a kitchen, laundry, hair dryers, soap, etc. The location was amazing and is surrounded by the shops, delis, coffee shops and the best gelati in Rome. Just around the corner from the Spanish Steps, whilst being an easy walk to all the other city sights. Marcella’s suggestions for dining were also spot on. We loved our stay here and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

  9. Dear Marcella, We loved staying in your apartment everything was just so nice. The apartment was clean, bright and comfortable. We look forward to visiting you again in the future and would highly recommend your place to our friends. Thank you again for your hospitality. By the way your assistant Chiara is lovely as well and was very helpful. Best Regards , Myriam

  10. Our stay in Leone 3 in December was nothing short of magical. The apartments are beautifully and traditionally furnished, clean and comfortable. Marcella is a gracious hostess who provided a booklet full of information which pointed us in the right direction for the must see sights and also included lists of restaurants in all price categories. The apartments are located in the Piazza di Spagna neighborhood which is one of the most beautiful areas in Rome. We enjoyed the violin player beneath our window in late afternoon as we sipped wonderful Italian wine, After a full day of sightseeing we enjoyed many long walks thru this neighborhood of cobblestoned streets and gorgeous shops. The Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain are just a short walk away. As recommended by Marcella, we arranged for Geno to pick us up at the airport upon arrival and to return us upon departure and this was done most efficiently. We have been home for only a few weeks but already we yearn to return to this beautiful place.

  11. I like to think of the lovely Leone 3 apartment as my home in Rome. Marcella is a caring and detail-oriented host, and everything about this place is perfection, as far as I am concerned. I am already plotting a return (third) stay.

  12. First, all the other guests comments helped greatly in our selecting Leone 3 for our visit. I echo all of the great feedback they provided. It was exactly as advertised, pictured, and more; beautiful luxurious apartment, great linens, great location (walking distance to the Spanish Steps and right in the middle of the high end shopping district of Roma),great guidebook, grocery store right down the street, great jazz club (Gregory’s) in walking distance, fantastic concierge services (love Gino, Edgar, and Ciarra), musicians singing and playing outside our window every day, and such a gracious, responsive, and caring hostess in Marcella. We even did a day trip to Venice by train which Marcella helped us book! I am looking forward to our return next year! (April 2016)

  13. I cannot say enough nice things about my entire experience (March 2016) at Leone 3 & Leone 2. I rented both apartments for two weeks, and I can honestly say that the apartments exceeded my expectations in every way. As gorgeous as the photos suggest — and even more so. (The ceilings are amazing!). Great location, obviously. The housekeeper is also wonderful and attentive, and we used the suggested driver (love Gino!), and he was impeccable — always on time and so nice. Marcella was a lovely hostess — she provides a lot of useful information (from restaurants to closest grocery store, deli, bakery, etc.) and has obviously gone to great length to include a lot of personal touches throughout the apartment that make staying there a pleasure. I quickly felt completely at home and am already planning a return visit. Highly recommended on all fronts.

  14. Our stay at Leone 3, October, 2015 – very pleasant! Three of us stayed at Marcella’s apartment for 4 nights as we celebrated 30 years of traveling as friends. The apartment was delightful and Marcella a gracious host. The apartment is wonderfully located and beautifully decorated. The 3rd bedroom and bath are quite small but easily acceptable for short stays. Marcella provided valuable information about restaurants in the area and recommended walking paths, in addition to making accessible a private chef (Simone) whom we used, a tour guide (Anne, whom we used) and a personal driver (we did not use). Her information and hospitality made the stay quite enjoyable. If you are someone who prefers the quiet of outside noise this location may not appeal to you. However, if you’re willing to embrace the reality of staying in a centrally located area this area is perfect. I can’t express the beauty of hearing violins and other instruments playing outside on the street. It was a delightful stay which I would gladly repeat and encourage others to consider.

  15. We stayed in one of the Leone apartments for a long weekend in October. What an fabulous experience! The flat was luxurious, elegant, clean, and in a perfect location. We were able to order a selection of food for our arrival. The owner recommended restaurants, taxi transfers, and a tour guide. We shall be back!

  16. 15 of us stayed in Leone 1, 2, and 3 for a week this August. What beautiful, gracious and well-appointed apartments! Wonderful location between the Spanish Steps and Via del Corso close to restaurants, shoppings, and grocery and wine stores and a nice walk to all of the major sites. The apartments are each truly elegant and beautiful while also very livable and comfortable. With two apartments together on one floor and the third on another floor, we were able to come together for full group dinners, etc. and it was also very easy to have privacy. Marcella is also a wonderful and gracious host beyond being the owner of the apartments. We coordinated several extraordinary dinners cooked by a chef in the apartments, and Marcella came each time to ensure the tables were well arranged. We can’t recommend the Leone apartments enough!

  17. “Dear Marcella, First my deepest apologies for not writing earlier. Thank you, very much indeed for making our stay in Rome memorable. Your very well appointed apartment was not only warm and fully equipped but also has the touch and feel of a home. The furniture, paintings and artefacts all blend in with the feel and culture of a Noble’s residence. The location is so central, you can skip up to Spanish Steps, and yet the apartment is serene. You have taken immense care to create a guide book for those who come and live in your apartment. There are many good restaurants in the vicinity as your guidebook suggests. We tried some and found them well reviewed by you. Your helpful suggestion to drive through Tuscany and your recommendation about the restaurant to stop for lunch were both very useful. Thank you for the same. My boys were so delighted to be in the apartment that on the last day they decided to spend half a day without stepping out to soak in the feeling of home that the place exudes. You are a gracious host with fine taste and this place embodies the way you are. We are indeed fortunate to have got an opportunity of being your guests and can unhesitatingly say that it is the best apartment I have used in Italy during our trip. Without staying here our memories would not be as vibrant. Many thanks and wishing you health and happiness. (Leone 3 – May 15) “

  18. “The apartment is absolutely wonderful and in a great spot; and everything was made very easy for us throughout our stay. We recommend it highly! Thanks Marcella. (Leone 3 – March 2015) “

  19. “I was greeted by Edgard and Marcella’s lovely assistant, Chiarra and the chef, Simone, was inside preparing something lovely for me to eat after a long and arduous journey from my home in Santa Fe, NM. This was the start of a wonderful and luxurious 10-day stay in Roma. Sra Gemmato was away but made sure to come by and greet me graciously upon her return. The apartment Leone 3 had everything (and more) than I needed and Edgard made sure that it stayed that way. Truly the best neighborhood to stay in and as a woman alone, I felt safe and cared for. (Leone 3 – March 2015 )”

  20. “My family and I had a splendid stay in Leone 3 the first week of October. The apartment is wonderful. Graciously and comfortably furnished. There’s a large living room with a dining table that seats at least 8. A nice kitchen with everything you’ll need — we made dinner a few times. 2 large bedrooms, with large, comfortable beds and en-suite baths, and a smaller bedroom with a twin and, for the agile, a sleeping loft. Lots of large beautiful windows provide plenty of light, fresh air and charming views. The location cannot be beat. Wonderful shopping, restaurants and sites are just steps away. A few blocks away are a great supermarket, deli, wine shop and farmers market. Marcella and Edgar are helpful and welcoming. Marcella helped us arrange a driver who picked us up at the airport – which made arrival a breeze – and took us to the train station when we left. She also recommended a wonderful guide who gave us a couple of excellent private tours. Leone 3 is a truly wonderful place to stay — I highly recommend it. Nick H. (Leone 3 – October 2014) “

  21. “We enjoyed a wonderful week long stay at Leone 2 and 3 in September 2014. The apartments were a delight. Comfortable and elegantly appointed. The link with the chef, the driver and the tour guide were great and we used all three resources. Marcella was an attentive and helpful, but not intrusive, host. The apartments are very conveniently located and we were able to enjoy some lovely street buskers singing opera through the open windows. (Leone 3 – September 2014) “

  22. “Dear Marcella, We had a delightful time staying at your lovely home in Roma-such a nice treat compared to a hotel. The apartment was very warm, inviting and comfortable. There was plenty of room for myself and 3 children. I loved the convenient location to the city center and safety of the area. My kids loved the many gelato stores! Love forward to my next trip to Roma! Marie. (Leone 3 – June 2014) “

  23. “Greetings from Malaysia! Hello Marcella. My family and I had a lovely time staying at the Leone 3 which was ‘a home away from home’ . It had everything including a loft where my daughter treated it as her hideaway. The location was, or rather is in a great location- walking distance to shops, the Spanish Steps, restaurants ( we missed Restaurant 31 this time, Marcella, but it gives us an excuse to travel back to Rome) and a supermarket (Carrefour Express). I fully recommend this apartment to anyone who wishes to be in the center of Rome and to be hosted by one fine lady, Marcella. Thank you again Marcella! Warm regards, Hanim K (Leone 3 – November 2013)”

  24. “My family and I enjoyed our stay in your beautiful apartment immensely. It was spacious, clean, extremely well presented and close to all the major attractions Rome has to offer. You made us feel as though we were staying with close friends . We could not recommend this wonderful apartment highly enough. (Leone 3 – September 2013)

  25. “Dear Marcella, We would like to thank you for the great stay we had in your apartment ! We hope we will come back soon and that we will have the opportunity to meeting you! Τhank you so much!. (Leone 3 – August 2013)”

  26. “Salve Marcella, We are home from our holiday after a wonderful trip & I just wanted to thank for your hospitality. The apartment was just wonderful, a luxurious home for us in Roma. Thank you also for the delicious nibbles & beautiful wine , which we really enjoyed. We look forward to staying again when we come to Roma with the family. Grazie di nuovo, (Leone 3 – May 2013)”

  27. “Comfortable apartment, within walking distance of most major attractions in Rome. Our family of 4 loved the location and felt very at home while we were there. Thank you, Marcella. (and you too, Edgard) (Leone 3 – July 2013) “
